RESPIRATOR FIT TESTING
The Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) requires respirators be used in areas where engineering controls alone cannot protect workers from atmospheric contamination at the worksite. Companies requiring the use of respirators must have a respirator program in place as outlined in the Standard. Included in the program are:
-
Written respiratory protection program
-
Respirator selection
-
Medical evaluation
-
Fit testing
-
Training
-
Program evaluation
Occupational Health Services of St. Joseph Health System offers both the medical evaluation (review of the OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire or medical examination) as well as qualitative respirator fit testing evaluation.
