STUDENT DRUG TESTING PROGRAM
Occupational Health Services of St. Joseph Health System was awarded a three year federal grant throught the Department of Education, Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools in 2005 that has allowed implementation of a Voluntary Random Student Drug Testing Program at Oscoda Area High School and Whittemore-Prescott High School.
Any student in either of these districts wishing to volunteer may do so, with parental consent. The testing is done by St. Joseph Health System personnel onsite at the school. Results are strictly confidential. The school is never aware of any results, only parents and students. The authorities are also never notified of any results.
If a student tests positive, parents will be notified and assessment/counseling will be recommended.
Students participating in the program will be issued a Drug-Free Card that will entitle the student to discounts at participating area businesses and be included in grand prize drawings periodically throughout the year.
Area businesses are asked for their support of the program by offering discounts to students who carry the "Drug-Free Card".
